Program rundown
How it works
Each week, for 8 weeks, we will meet at Black Dog Boxfit. We will have the gym to ourselves for the entire session - it will be completely private.
In the first half of the session, we will check in with one another, to see how everyone is feeling and make sure the space feels safe and welcoming.
Everything we share in the group is confidential. You only have to share what you feel comfortable sharing and whatever you share will not leave the group.
We then move into writing prompts. We invite everyone to write continuously in response to a prompt (for example ‘When I feel hopeful…’) for a few minutes. We then invite everyone to share their writing.
After this, we have a short break and move into boxing. You will be led through the boxing by a qualified coach. Our program facilitators will be nearby to support you.
Everything we do in both the writing and boxing is opt in. You have agency and choice, and your boundaries will be respected.

As survivors, we often judge ourselves very harshly. We may have stories about ourselves that our trauma was ‘not that bad’, or that we are ‘forever broken’. Left Write Hook welcomes all survivors. You do not have to be ‘healed’, and we make absolutely no judgement about your trauma - your experience is valid and your pain is real.
“This program has literally saved my life. No one ever taught me that I have to move the trauma out of my body. I have spent almost 20 years to try and overcome this [but] I have come further in 16 sessions of Left Write Hook than what I did in 20 years. Thank you for giving me a new lease on life.”
